HOW TO REACH SIKKIM:
Situated amidst the Himalayas, Sikkim can be reached directly via road and indirectly via rail and air travel. Since it is a mountainous state, it has excellent access to nearby cities like Siliguri, Darjeeling, Bagdogra, and New Jalpaiguri through a network of roadways.
By Air: Gangtok, the state capital, is around 124 kilometers from Bagdogra, the main airport for accessing Sikkim. Airlines including Indigo, SpiceJet, and Vistara offer direct flights to Bagdogra from Delhi and Kolkata.
There are direct flights from Bangalore (Indigo, SpiceJet, and AirAsia) and Mumbai (Indigo and SpiceJet). The drive takes approximately five hours on well-kept, winding roads. As an alternative, you can take a 30-minute helicopter ride from Bagdogra to Gangtok.
By Train: New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal, which is situated 125 kilometers from Gangtok, is the closest train station to Sikkim. From here, go to the capital for four to five hours by bus, cab, or taxi.
