There are three unique seasons in Kashmir.
Summer Time (March to May): Kashmir experiences summer from March to May. Many people, especially those who dislike the bitterly cold weather, think that now is the ideal time of year to visit Kashmir. During these months, the average temperature does not rise over 31 degrees Celsius. Even in the summer, you may experience some nighttime chilly even with the warm days. You can even take a Shikara ride while the Mughal Garden is in full bloom during these months.
Monsoon Time (June to September): The monsoon season in Jammu and Kashmir normally lasts from June to September. Even while the temperature remains comfortable throughout this season, regular rain showers might disrupt a variety of tourism activities, including sightseeing, adventure activities, city exploration, shopping, and more.
Winter Time (October to February): Winter begins in Jammu and Kashmir in October and lasts until February. You may expect snow everywhere, and the temperature may drop below zero. Because the union territory is blanketed with snow during these months, you may encounter difficulties reaching several areas. By Rail: The Jammu Tawi Railway Station, about 330 kilometers away, is the closest railhead to Kashmir. The Jammu Tawi Railway Station may be reached by train from places such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata. You can take a local taxi from here to Kashmir.
By Road: Kashmir is accessible by road from major cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jammu. The journey from Delhi to Srinagar is approximately 876 kilometers long and takes between 16 and 18 hours. The route from Chandigarh is around 646 kilometers and takes approximately 10-12 hours. It is approximately 266 km from Jammu and takes approximately 5-6 hours. These roads provide breathtaking views and are well-connected by national highways, making road travel to Kashmir an unforgettable experience.
